A new package of EU sanctions against Russia will be presented in October, Bloomberg reports, citing its own sources.
According to the agency, the 12th package of sanctions may include a ban on the import of diamonds from Russia, restrictions on liquefied natural gas from the Russian Federation, as well as the Russian IT sector.
In addition, the publication’s sources claim that as part of the new package, a plan may be presented to use the frozen assets of the Central Bank of the Russian Federation to help Ukraine.
As Bloomberg points out, some countries, including Poland and the Baltic countries, are also calling for restrictions on the Russian nuclear sector. However, the agency writes, such restrictions are unlikely to be introduced because too many EU member states oppose them.
In addition, the new sanctions package will likely include further steps to limit sanctions circumvention through third countries such as the UAE and Turkey.
