
The book of art critic Elena Khokhlova “ The main thing in the history of the art of Korea. Key works, themes, names, technology ” capaciously and clearly tells the history of the development of Korean art from Neolithic to the present day. It covers all important eras of the development of Korean art: Neolyte and the Bronze Age (VI thousand - IV century BC), the era of the three states (I thousand - VII centuries), united by sillage (VII - X centuries), the state of the Koryo (X -XIV centuries), the state of Choson (XIV - XIX centuries), the colonial period (XX c.), Korean war, DPRK and modern Republic of Korea. Elena Khokhlova, candidate of art history, associate professor of the School of Oriental Studies of the National Research University “Higher School of Economics”, explores works of different eras - from the first works of the Neolithic to samples of ultramodern art. Each work is described in the context of the characteristics of the artist, his environment, historical and social events, the materials used and the topics raised. Readers will learn about the achievements and life of artists Korea and will be able to see the world with their eyes. To create a book, Elena went to Korea on a grant of the Korean Foundation and wrote a book there, visiting local state and private museums, galleries and libraries.
