Despite the war, more than 200 German companies continue to pay taxes in Russia - research

After a year and a half of the full -scale invasion of Russia in Ukraine, 262 German companies continue to earn money in the Russian Federation and pay taxes to the budget of this country. This is stated in a study by the Kiev School of Economics (KSE).

"KSE Institute identified 393 German companies operating in the Russian market, of which 262 (67%) remain in Russia, while another 98 (25%)" go out "and only 33 (8%) - completely went through sale or liquidation," KSE Institute noted.

According to him, in 2022, almost 400 German companies that worked in Russia were paid only in the form of income tax in the Russian budget of more than $ 400 million.

This is a record indicator among all EU countries - only companies from the United States gave a large amount as tax deductions.

In addition, Germany is one of the leading foreign employers in Russia (hired about 165 thousand people to the invasion), was the third after the United States (about 400 thousand people) and France (about 250 thousand people), which was in second place.

At the same time, many German companies left Russia after February 24, 2022, among them: Siemens, Daimler, Mercedes-Benz Group, Henkel, Robert Bosch, Wella and others.

However, giants such as Metro, Bayer, HeidelbergCement, Hochland, Knauf Gips and others continue to earn in Russia and pay taxes to the budget of this country.

"The remaining German companies are not embarrassed by the fact that they were simultaneously between Western sanctions and public indignation, on the one hand, and more and more hostile to the Russian government, on the other hand," the study emphasizes.

Earlier it was reported that the Russian authorities do not intend to freely issue foreign credit organizations who want to sell their business in the Russian Federation.

Some foreign companies trying to leave Russia are faced with large costs , as Moscow requires discounts to the value of assets that they want to sell.
