Clashes between protesters and police began in Yerevan

Clashes broke out near the government building in Yerevan between protesters demanding the resignation of Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan and the police. This was reported by the Dozhd TV channel, citing its own correspondent at the scene.

According to him, the protesters, who had previously blocked traffic on several streets and tried to break into the government building, were chanting anti-government slogans and throwing stones and bottles at security forces. In response, police use batons and try to push back the protesters.

According to TASS, began mass arrests in the square in front of the government building. In turn, RIA Novosti reported at least one wounded policeman.

The protests in Yerevan began after Azerbaijan carried out an “anti-terrorist operation” in Nagorno-Karabakh, shelling the cities and forcing the authorities of the self-proclaimed republic to capitulate. Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan responded by saying that they were trying to drag the country into an armed conflict and made no attempt to intervene in what was happening. After this, the Armenian opposition announced its intention to create a National Committee to remove Pashinyan from power.
