In Ukraine, they allowed to write “Russia” with a small letter
The National Commission for State Language Standards of Ukraine stated that writing the names “Russian Federation”, “Russia”, “Moscow”, “Muscovy”, “Moscow Kingdom”, “Russian Empire”, “State Duma of the Russian Federation” and similar ones in lowercase letters is not is considered a deviation from the norms of the Ukrainian language in unofficial texts. This was reported by the Ukrainian News agency.
When discussing this issue, the commission turned to the Institute of Ukrainian Language and the Institute of Linguistics named after A. A. Potebnya, which belong to the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine.
The commission issued the statement after Ukrainian Deputy Prime Minister Irina Vereshchuk on September 8 called for an official change in the spelling of Russia and its leaders. The day before, the Minister of Education and Science of Ukraine Oksen Lisovoy signed an order according to which the name “Russian Federation” must be written in capital letters in official documents. The minister explained this by the requirements of rulemaking.
