The Syktyvkar City Court extended the term of detention in a pre-trial detention center for sociologist Boris Kagarlitsky, who is being prosecuted under the article on justification of terrorism (Part 2 of Article 205.2 of the Criminal Code). This is reported by SOTA.

“Mediazona” indicated that the reason for initiating a case could be a video entitled “Explosive congratulations to the cat Mostik, Nervous people and events, Strikes on infrastructure,” which was published ten days after the explosion on the Crimean Bridge (in October 2022), and was about what happened. This video was later removed from the channel.
On November 21, the Second Western District Military Court extended the arrest of Boris Kagarlitsky for another six months. This was reported by SOTAvison. Thus, the sociologist was left in the pre-trial detention center until May 13, 2024.
During the extension of the preventive measure, Kagarlitsky participated via video link from the Syktyvkar pre-trial detention center. A representative of the prosecutor's office at the trial asked to leave the sociologist in the detention center, since he could “hide or destroy evidence” and also “committed a crime of a terrorist nature.” The judge corrected the prosecutor, noting that the man’s guilt had not yet been proven.
Kagarlitsky himself noted that the investigative actions in his case ended more than a month ago. The sociologist recalled that despite his inclusion in the register of “foreign agents,” he did not leave Russia while still at large.
