Leonov was found guilty under the article on missionary activity (part 4 of article 5.26 of the Administrative Code). The reason for the persecution was his use of literature without the label of a religious organization, as well as failure to notify the Ministry of Justice about the start of the activities of a religious group. The priest admitted guilt, explaining that he did not know about the need for such notification.
