The Sovetsky District Court of Ufa sentenced policeman Umar Tatriev to three years and eight months in a general regime colony in the case of violence against his wife and children. This was reported by the human rights project “Traumpunkt” and the department of the Investigative Committee for Bashkortostan.
Tatriev was found guilty of failure to fulfill the duties of raising minors (Article 156 of the Criminal Code) and torturing two or more persons (points “a”, “d” of Part 2 of Article 117 of the Criminal Code); during the debate he was asked to be sentenced to five years in prison. The man was taken into custody in the courtroom.
As Travmpunkt writes, Tatriev often shouted and regularly used violence against his wife Anna and children - in particular, he could hit the child against the wall. The first time he used violence against his wife was shortly after the wedding, when she was pregnant. The reason for this was Anna’s request to drive more carefully.
The materials against the police officer were submitted to the court in March. According to the case file , Tatriev was also accused of threatening to kill (Part 1 of Article 119 of the Criminal Code). Soon after his arrest, the security officer was sent to a pre-trial detention center, but later the preventive measure was softened .
As writes UFA1.RU , Tatriev’s wife repeatedly contacted the police because of the torture, but the security forces did nothing. The victim believed that this was because of her husband’s connections - according to the publication , the convicted person is the nephew of a former top manager of a large oil company.
Tatriev served as an investigator of the Ufa police department No. 10. When a criminal case was opened against him, the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Bashkiria reported that “facts of illegal actions of an employee” were revealed by “own security operatives.”
