The architect was fined two million rubles for a comment about Stalin

The Ivanovo Regional Court fined two million rubles of architect Sergei Volkov. The jury found him guilty of the rehabilitation of Nazism. Volkov did not admit guilt. This was reported in the "Memorial".

The case against Volkov was opened in May 2022. The reason was the post in the Volkov Telegram channel "Slavic-linguistic culture today", in which the author talked about the blockade of Leningrad during the Second World War.

Volkov wrote that Joseph Stalin "threw" the city as "unnecessary and almost captured." He also noted that the Nazis removed the charge of the blockade of Leningrad in the Nuremberg process.

The examination in the case stated that Volkov’s comment is contrary to the “scientific paradigm of the Great Patriotic War in Russian historiography”, and also carries “attempts to defame the highest military-political leadership of the USSR for inaction, cowardice or anti-human actions in relation to its population.”

The verdict in the Volkov case was issued in July. Before that, the collegium was dissolved. The defenders of the architect believe that the original college was going to recognize him innocent.
