Cryptocurrency exchange Binance announced its departure from Russia

The Binance cryptocurrency exchange is leaving Russia. The remaining business will be sold to CommEX, reported . the company's press service

Binance plans for its users to migrate to the new platform within one year. At the same time, all assets of current Russian users are “safe and securely protected,” the press service notes.

At the beginning of September, two Russian top managers of Binance - Gleb Kostarev and Vladimir Smerkis - announced their departure from the company. They oversaw its development of the exchange in Russia and the CIS. Top managers did not give reasons for leaving at the time.

In the spring of 2023, the US Department of Justice conducted an investigation against the crypto exchange for circumventing anti-Russian sanctions. Amid the investigation, the exchange fired more than 1,000 employees. At the end of August 2023, the exchange was revaluing its market in Russia and allowing for withdrawal from it.
