Navalny transferred to single cell-type room for year in what amounts to harshest punishment prison colony can give

Politician Alexey Navalny has been transferred to a single cell-type room (EPKT) for a year, according to his social media.

In the post, he wrote that the decision to transfer him was made at the commission in the colony, where Navalny was taken after the trial to appeal his conviction in the case on “extremism” against him. The politician claims that the decision was made due to his “incorrigibility.”

So I have a new prison cell and a new inscription on my back. A year of EPKT is the strictest possible punishment in all kinds of prisons.

On August 4, a Moscow court sentenced opposition figure Alexey Navalny to 19 years in prison on charges of “extremism.” He will serve his sentence in a “special regime” prison colony, the category of correctional institution with the toughest conditions for inmates in Russia.
