The defendant in the Tyumen case, Kirill Brik, who spoke about torture during detention, entered into a pre-trial agreement with the investigation

Kirill Brik, arrested in the Tyumen case, entered into a pre-trial agreement with the investigation; six months ago he refused a lawyer and stopped answering letters from friends. This was reported by a support group for those involved in the case.

On September 21, a confrontation took place between 27-year-old Surgut resident Nikita Oleynik and Brik. As follows from the letter that Oleinik later sent to his relatives, Brik slandered him and confirmed the investigation’s version of the existence of a “terrorist community.”

“During the investigative activities, Kirill adhered to the instructions of investigator Ereke Ayanovich Shaimerdenov and operational officers. <…> Now, on the basis of Brik’s confession, the remaining defendants in the case can be convicted,” the support group claims.

As part of the “Tyumen case,” at the end of August and beginning of September 2022, six anti-fascists from Tyumen, Yekaterinburg and Surgut were arrested. According to investigators, they were going to blow up military registration and enlistment offices, police departments and railway tracks along which trains with military equipment travel to Ukraine.

The defendants in the case are accused of creating a terrorist community and participating in it (Parts 1 and 2 of Article 205.4 of the Criminal Code), as well as preparing for a terrorist attack (Part 1 of Article 30, Part 2 of Article 205 of the Criminal Code). The accused denied guilt and said that they confessed, including under electric torture.

The first to be detained in a vacant lot near CHPP-2 on the outskirts of Tyumen on the evening of August 30 were two musicians - Kirill Brik and Deniz Aidyn. They said that they were going to test homemade explosives there, which they made “out of curiosity,” and that the police initially mistook them for pawnbrokers.

Brik recalled that he incriminated himself after his arrest, as the security forces twisted his arm joints, beat him on the head and threatened to “introduce a handle or a mop handle into the anal area.” Within a few days, other defendants in the case were detained.

In February of this year, Brick refused the lawyer provided to him by his support group. “It is likely that Kirill is being persuaded to sign a pre-trial agreement with the investigation so that, on the basis of his verdict, the rest of the defendants in the case will be imprisoned,” said a post on the Tyumenskoe Delo telegram channel. Already in May, the anti-fascist admitted guilt.
