On annexation anniversary, Medvedev says ‘there will be more new regions within Russia’
Russian Security Council Deputy Chairman Dmitry Medvedev posted to his Telegram channel on the anniversary of Russia’s annexation of four Ukrainian regions, writing: "A year ago, in referendums, their residents made a fateful decision — to be with their Fatherland. This choice became a symbol not only of the restoration of historical justice but also of the unity of the Russian people, their colossal will and selflessness.”
He also said that the "special military operation" would continue "until the complete destruction of the Nazi Kyiv regime and the liberation of native Russian territories from the enemy,” after which, Medvedev said, "there will be more new regions within Russia.”
On September 28, Russian President Vladimir Putin signed a law making September 30 ”Reunification Day,” celebrating the annexation of Ukraine’s Donetsk, Luhansk, Kherson, and Zaporizhzhia regions as a “reunification” with Russia.
