In Moscow, investigators asked the court for permission to conduct 14 searches in the case of an “undesirable” organization

The Savelovsky District Court of Moscow received 14 requests from investigators to conduct searches in the case of an “undesirable” organization (Article 284.1 of the Criminal Code). Mediazona found this information in the database of Moscow courts.

All petitions were registered today, October 2, they will be considered by judge Dmitry Zozulya, the dates of the hearings have not yet been set.

The essence of the criminal case, in which the investigation wants to conduct 14 searches, is not yet known. Under this article, it prosecutes those whom the investigation considers to be an organizer, sponsor or participant in one of the organizations that the Prosecutor General’s Office has recognized as “undesirable.” Punishment under Article 284.1 of the Criminal Code is up to six years in prison.

There are now list more than 100 organizations on the “undesirable” . Among them are religious associations (for example, the Evangelical Christian Church “New Generation”, “All-Ukrainian Spiritual Center “Renaissance”), human rights organizations (Agora, House of Human Rights Foundation, Crimean Human Rights Group), media (Meduza ", "Rain", "Novaya Gazeta Europe"), environmental projects (Greenpeace, World Wide Fund for Nature, The Altai Project ).

According to the Code of Criminal Procedure , the investigator must usually go to court before conducting a search. However, in urgent circumstances, the petition is submitted to the court after the searches have taken place. This must be done within 72 hours; the court must declare the investigative actions legal or illegal.

Over the past three days, there have been no public reports of searches in connection with an “undesirable” organization. In addition, the Savelovsky court in 2023 did not consider any other materials under Article 284.1 of the Criminal Code.
