The Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) conducted a large -scale special operation in the Nikolaev region, as a result of which it neutralized the Russian agent network. It included 13 local residents who worked for the Federal Security Service (FSB) of Russia.
According to the press service of the SBU , the attackers gathered intelligence on the places of basing and moving defense forces in the southern region. They also corrected Russia's air attacks on the housing and social infrastructure of the regional center.
It was according to their aiming that the troops of the Russian Federation hit the S-300 from the anti-aircraft missile system with a multi-storey building in Nikolaev in the fall of 2022. Then, as a result of shelling, 7 civilians were killed, including a minor child, the department noted.
According to the SBU, Russian informants transferred the coordinates of Ukrainian objects to the FSB through Svyaznoy. It turned out to be Prochrevsky blogger Sergey Lebedev, better known under the pseudonym "Lokhmat".
In June of this year, the SBU exposed him to reconnaissance and subversive activities against Ukraine and reported suspicion of Gosizmen. At the direction of the FSB, he remotely created his own agents in the territory of the Nikolaev region.
It included 13 local subscribers of his telegram channel. It was through this Internet resource that the defendant recruited his agents and received intelligence from them.
Nine defendants in business are currently in custody. The court found four more participants in the agent guilty of committing crimes and appointed them from 8 to 15 years in prison.
