German police and customs officers searched several properties in Munich and Tegernsee owned by a Russian who is under European sanctions due to the Russian invasion of Ukraine. Reuters reported this with reference to a source.
The special commission “Matryoshka”, created by the German customs authorities for sanctions, reported that the searches took place on the basis of a warrant issued by the court. German authorities have not released the name of the Russian.
According to a Reuters source, we are talking about billionaire Alisher Usmanov. The German Bild claims that police carried out a raid on Usmanov's villa in the Bavarian town of Rottach-Egern on the shores of Lake Tegernsee. Valuables were seized from the house, including luxury cars such as a Mercedes Maybach S500.
“The actions of German law enforcement agencies regarding Alisher Usmanov cause great surprise and a sense of shame,” said the businessman’s press service . Usmanov's representatives deny that the searches took place at facilities that belong to him. The billionaire has no rights of control over the assets of the trust that he once founded, and “cannot know what is currently happening with the property belonging to the trust,” the press service said
“We note that the search that took place looks like another episode of intimidation and political persecution, with a hint of nationality, which is not hidden in the name of the special investigative commission of the German customs “Matrjoschka,” said the businessman’s representative
