The Prosecutor General's Office reported on the closure of 150 gas stations in Dagestan after an explosion at a gas station in Makhachkala; then 35 people died

In Dagestan, 150 automobile filling stations (gas stations) ceased operations due to violations of fire and industrial safety rules; In total, based on the results of inspections, prosecutors drew up 1,300 response acts. This was reported by the press service of the Prosecutor General's Office.

Among the violations, the department also highlighted the hiring of employees who did not undergo training and certification in accordance with the established procedure, which “created a real threat to the life and health of the consumer.” In several regions of Dagestan, cases of illegal storage of ammonium nitrate with a total weight of 280 tons were revealed.

In addition, prosecutors initiated two criminal cases. One after an inspection at a gas station on the outskirts of the village of Khadzhalmakhi - under the article on the provision of services that do not meet safety requirements (Part 1 of Article 238 of the Criminal Code). The second is against the management of the Lux gas station in Izberbash - for operating the gas station without a license since 2019.

On August 14 of this year, a fire started in a car service station near the Makhachkala-Astrakhan highway, saltpeter caught fire and an explosion occurred. Soon the fire spread to the Nafta gas station across the road and cars, investigators believe. According to eyewitnesses, there was a bus with people at the gas station at the time of the explosion. As a result, 35 people died.

In the case of violation of security requirements, which resulted in human deaths (Part 3 of Article 238 of the Criminal Code), the Basmanny District Court of Moscow arrested businessman Eldar Nasrulaev. According to security forces, he stored ammonium nitrate in a warehouse next to the car service center that subsequently caught fire.
