The Moscow City Court ordered to consider the complaint of Vladimir Kara-Murza about the inaction of the Investigative Committee after his poisoning

The Moscow City Court supported the appeal of opposition politician Vladimir Kara-Murza against the decision of the Presnensky District Court, which refused to consider his complaint about the inaction of the Investigative Committee after his poisoning. This was reported by a Mediazona correspondent from the courtroom.

The decision of the Presnensky Court became known at the end of July. As the politician clarified , the court decided not to consider his complaint related to the lack of investigation into his poisonings in 2015 and 2017.

“And now the answer from the Presnensky court: my complaint will not be considered, since the Investigative Committee considers my statement of a crime not a statement of a crime, but a “citizen’s appeal” (thanks, not friendly correspondence with Alexander Ivanovich Bastrykin),” he wrote then Kara-Murza.

Speaking today in the Moscow City Court, the politician compared the Russian authorities to three monkeys, each of which closes its eyes, ears or mouth - that is, they see nothing, hear nothing, say nothing. He added: “The Investigative Committee responded to my statement about the crime with a deafening and, I would say, very eloquent silence, no reaction at all - zero.”

As a Mediazona correspondent reports, lawyer Maria Eismont, while waiting for a court decision, asked Kara-Murza if he knew about the Hamas attack on Israel. The politician replied: “What happened?” The lawyer explained that the largest attack in 50 years had occurred. The oppositionist did not have time to react to her words, as the judge came to a decision.

The oppositionist was hospitalized with symptoms of poisoning in 2015 and 2017. Bellingcat has established that before the first poisoning, he was monitored by the same FSB officers as the murdered oppositionist Boris Nemtsov and the poisoned Alexei Navalny. Investigators linked this to Kara-Murza’s participation in lobbying the Magnitsky list with sanctions against Russian government officials.

After the politician was sentenced to 25 years in prison, which was handed down in April 2023, the ambassadors of the United States, Great Britain and Canada called for the release of Kara-Murza.
