The Krasnogvardeisky District Court of St. Petersburg imposed a two-year suspended sentence on local resident Marianella Filatova in connection with a comment about throwing paint on a police car. This was reported by the press service of the courts of St. Petersburg.
The girl was found guilty under the article on public calls for extremist activities (Part 2 of Article 280 of the Criminal Code). In addition to the suspended sentence and probation for three years, Filatova was deprived of the right to administer sites on social networks for two years.
According to investigators, in September 2022, the convict posted a comment in the anti-war telegram chat “Rainy City” with the text: “It’s better not to just spray paint on the windshield, it takes a long time. It’s better to throw a can/bag or something else.” According to the conclusion of a psycho-linguistic examination conducted by the investigation, Filatova’s words contain signs of incitement to violent actions against law enforcement officers. The girl admitted her guilt.
The search in Marianella Filatova’s apartment took place in mid-May 2023, after which she was given a written undertaking not to leave. The Fontanka publication reported that investigative actions that day took place in two more people who left comments in anti-war telegram chats - Yegor Pavlov and Veronika Kuzmina. Kuzmina, according to official data, left Russia and was arrested in absentia .
It was initially reported that Filatova, like the two named, was being charged with involvement in mass riots and public justification of terrorism, but then this information regarding Filatova was not confirmed. In connection with the same case, on May 17, security forces came to the home of St. Petersburg resident Daria Naranovich. Naranovich and her husband are involved in the case as witnesses.
