The Tverskoy District Court of Moscow ordered compulsory treatment for Sergei Kirsanov, a defendant in the Left Resistance case. This was reported by his lawyer from OVD-Info, Tatyana Solomina.
Solomina said that she plans to appeal the court’s decision. Until the appeal hearing, Kirsanov remains free under his own recognizance.
Kirsanov is accused of participating in an extremist community (Part 1 of Article 282.1 of the Criminal Code), which, according to investigators, is the “Left Resistance” created by Daria Polyudova. The defense believes that the man’s participation in this group has not been proven and he is a “completely random person” in the case, writes SOTA.
- Daria Polyudova created the Left Resistance movement in 2017. Activists called the meaning of creating a new left organization to replace the “opportunistic Communist Party of the Russian Federation” “defending real communist ideas.”
- According to the security forces, Polyudova did this to “publicly justify terrorism and public calls for extremist activities.” The investigation considers pickets and publications on social networks to be the activities of the extremist community. The posts that became the reason for the persecution spoke about the anniversary of the annexation of Crimea and pickets in support of Crimean Tatar activists involved in cases of involvement in Hizb ut-Tahrir; one of them was entitled “Execute the traitor Putler for high treason!” Polyudova herself was sentenced to 9 years in a general regime colony.
- Kirill Kotov, Alena Krylova, Igor Kuznetsov and Andrei Romanov are also charged with participation in the “Left Resistance” under the article on an extremist community (Part 2 of Article 282.1 of the Criminal Code). Kotov has already been sentenced to three years probation. Krylova left Russia, she was put on the wanted list: the girl was detained in Kyrgyzstan and put under arrest, where she is still in custody. Kuznetsov was placed in a Moscow pre-trial detention center - he is also involved in the case of the telegram channel “What to do!”
