The 35th Garrison Court of the Kamchatka Territory sentenced military personnel Evgeniy Parasochka and Viktor Shkvarok to two and a half years in a penal colony due to their reluctance to fight in Ukraine. They were found guilty of failure to comply with an order in wartime (Part 2.1 of Article 332 of the Criminal Code). Both press releases appeared on the website on October 12. For the most part they are identical. According to the court, the men, “not wanting to participate in hostilities, realizing the mobilization announced in the Russian Federation, refused to participate in hostilities during a special military operation.” Parasochka allegedly refused to fight in the spring, and Shkvarok - in the summer of this year. The news contains only the first letters of the convicts' surnames, but OVD-Info managed to find the full names in the court file.
The case against Parasochka came to court on September 20, and the case against Shkvarok the next day. The verdicts were handed down on October 3 and 10, respectively.
- After the announcement of mobilization in September 2022 in Russia, the number of criminal cases against military personnel who for various reasons left their unit or directly opposed participation in hostilities increased sharply. In particular, in the nine months of 2023, according to Mediazona, the courts received 243 cases of non-execution of an order (Article 332 of the Criminal Code) - while for the entire 2022 there were five such cases, and in 2021 there were none.
