An Islamic State member shot and killed two people in Brussels

On the night of October 17, two Swedish citizens were shot dead and a local taxi driver was wounded in the Belgian capital Brussels, reports . Reuters

Later, a video recorded by a certain Abdulsalem Al Gulani circulated online. In it, he calls himself a "warrior of Allah" and a member of the Islamic State and says he carried out the killings to "take revenge in the name of all Muslims."

The media published videos of eyewitnesses and surveillance cameras that show a man in an orange jacket riding around the city on a scooter with a weapon in his hands and shooting.

According to the local press, the dead were fans of the Swedish national football team, which that day played in Brussels with the Belgian team. It is also reported that the attacker was known to local law enforcement for his radical views.

Later, local media reported that the shooter was killed by police in one of the city cafes, but there was no official confirmation of this information at the time of publication of the note.

Belgian authorities called on Brussels residents to stay at home and expressed condolences to the families and friends of the victims. The injured taxi driver is reportedly in the hospital and his life is not in danger.
