Pulp lead singer Jarvis Cocker, musician Brian Eno, philosopher Judith Butler and many other cultural figures signed a letter in support of Palestine

Several thousand cultural figures, including Pulp frontman Jarvis Cocker, musician Brian Eno, director Mati Diop and philosopher Judith Butler, signed an open letter demanding a ceasefire in the Gaza Strip and the delivery of humanitarian aid there. The text of the letter was published in the publication Artforum.

The authors of the letter called what was happening in the Gaza Strip genocide of Palestinians and accused Israel of committing war crimes.

“We support the liberation of Palestine and call for an end to the killing and harm to all civilians. We also call for an immediate ceasefire, the delivery of humanitarian aid to the Gaza Strip, and an end to the complicity of our governing bodies in serious human rights violations and war crimes,” the text says.

The signatories demanded "a breaking of the institutional silence around the ongoing humanitarian crisis facing 2.3 million Palestinians in the occupied and besieged Gaza Strip."

“The collective punishment of the civilian population of Gaza, which includes the killing of aid workers, journalists and doctors, as well as the destruction of all infrastructure and life-support resources, the cutting off of water, food, electricity and the failure to provide medical care, is a war crime,” the letter said.
