Novyevropa talks about the case of Ilyas Yakubov, who continued the “Kadyrovsky nanny” last week in Abu Dhabi, and now he was in jail for the justification of terrorism

On the eve of the detention, Yakubov visited the UFC tournament in Abu Dhabi, where Kadyrov’s friend and teacher of his sons Hamzat Chimaev acted. According to Russian media, Yakubov went to the UAE to support him.

The reason for the arrest of Yakubov was his publication on social networks. In the video, the athlete trains with dumbbells, and the background of the monologist of the terrorist Shamil Basayev sounds: “We have no other way, because our people can be defeated, but you cannot conquer.” According to the Prochrevskaya Komsomolskaya Pravda, the video with the monologue of Basayev Yakubov published on his Instagram, but deleted the post after indignant commentators informed him that this could be criminally punishable. In addition, it is known that the statement to him was written by the war veteran in Chechnya and the head of the “Army of Defenders of the Fatherland”, Ivan Otakovsky.

It is not known whether Yakubov put any ideological message into the publication of this video, but the security forces saw in it “justification of terrorism” (Article 205.2 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation). He was put on the wanted list and detained right at the airport upon returning from Abu Dhabi. Immediately after the detention, Yakubov was taken for interrogation to the Investigative Committee, and on October 23, the Nagatinsky court of Moscow sent him under December 11.

“According to the investigation, the accused in October 2023 made a video with statements justifying the need to carry out terrorist activities. After that, this video posted in the public domain for a wide range of people on his page in the social network prohibited in the Russian Federation, ”the SK said in a statement.

The detainee himself said about his detention that he was an "athlete, not a criminal." Yakubov defender Maxim Kalinov, a frequent guest of scandalous Russian talk shows, said that, perhaps, his client would have to plead guilty and then he would get off with a conditional term.

“ Once he is arrested, this is bad, because in practice, if a measure of restraint in custody is elected, then, most likely, the sentence will be with a real term. With competent defense tactics, possibly with guilty and other actions, you can try to leave for a conditional term. I believe that in this case it would be possible to apply a different measure of restraint, not related to deprivation of liberty, ”Kalinov said Match TV.

Yakubov has long been known for his scandalous tricks. Previously, he performed at a professional level and fought in the ASV, M-1, Open FC, “MMA series” league, but after he went into pop-mma, where the TRESH TOK (insulting attacks on the opponent) became part of his work. Yakubov, as a fighter and manager, needs not only to perform well in the octagon, but also to warm up attention to his battle. His closest event was to be a battle in the tournament of the “Fight Club REN TV” according to the rules of boxing in gloves for MMA on October 27. There he was going to oppose Vyacheslav Vasilevsky.

Shortly before the initiation of the criminal case, Yakubov was removed from the battles in the Hardcore Fighting League, after he attacked a fighter named Tornik Svanidze, who knocked out a friend of Yakubov Jahara Majidov. Immediately after the battle, Yakubov jumped out into the ring and attacked Svanidze.

In August of this year, Yakubov and his friend, the fighter, Shovhal Churchaev, in pursuit of the public attention, staged a staged fight in the Moscow shopping center “Riviera”, where the press conference was promoted “Our Business” (this is a fighting tournament, where fighters of mixed martial arts, including Churchaev and Yakubov) act). Later, the fighters themselves admitted that it was part of the show.

It seems that the same thing happened at the UFC 294 tournament, where Yakubov went to support Chechen Hamzat Chimaev, but for some reason he did not get to the tournament. But there, as a spectator, his friend was and a colleague Shovhal Churchaev, with whom they arranged a fight in the Moscow shopping center. At some point, the Churchaev, who was at the event, attacked the Brazilian fighter Paulo Kosto, who was supposed to go against Hamzat Chimaev, but withdrew from the battle due to the injury. Yakubov could not intervene in a fight, since he was not allowed into the building when a brawl began. Nevertheless, he stated that the Brazilian "got merit."

All this, too, was clearly part of a large show arranged around the diamond of this tournament - favorite Ramzan Kadyrov Khamzat Chimaev.

Chimaev is the star of MMA and one of the educators of the younger sons of Kadyrov.

At a young age, the future champion went as a refugee to Sweden, where his relatives lived, he continued to deal with the struggle there, and then moved to Stockholm All Stars Training Center, famous for the fact that four prominent UFC fighters were trained: Alexander Gustafsson, Ilir Tamur and Daniel and Daniel Teimur.

Soon Hamzat became known and also got into the UFC. In July 2020, he became famous for being able to win two decisive victories in just ten days. When Chimaev became a star, they remembered him in a small homeland.

In 2021, the fighter fell ill with Covid-19. The disease was very difficult, and, according to the Russian media, he was even going to end his career, but Ramzan Kadyrov himself dissuaded him.

In 2022, Kadyrov organized Chimaev a luxurious wedding in Chechnya, which he visited with his sons. And in September 2023, the fighter abandoned Swedish citizenship and stated that the Arab emirates would now represent. In a new status, he went to the UFC tournament in Abu Dhabi, where Eli and Adam Kadyrov went with him, as well as Russian fighters MMA Shovhal Churchaev and Ilyas Yakubov.

Chimaev went to the battle of the Chechen Bard of Timur Mutsuraev “Anthem”. And this is significant, because Mutsuraev is the voice of Chechen separatists and a participant in two Chechen wars, in which he fought on the side of the unrecognized Ichkeria. Many Mutsuraev’s songs in Russia are included in the list of “extremist materials”, but Mignona Kadyrov does not bother this, because, even being in Russia, he did not hesitate to include “forbidden songs” in his car and publish it in social networks.

For “simple mortals”, listening and distribution of Mutsuraev’s songs is fraught with an administrative or even criminal case. In particular, there are cases when people were fined for the spread of Mutsuraev’s songs, which were not even recognized as extremist. So, in the winter of 2021, the City Court of Gudermes found the resident of Chechnya Adam Saiev guilty of the distribution of extremist materials for the publication of Mutsuraev’s song “Hadis Prophet” on the VKontakte social network, which does not belong to the prohibited. The man received a fine of a thousand rubles. According to the estimates of the publication “Caucasian Knot”, from 2016 to 2018, 11 people were fined for the publication of Mutsuraev’s songs in Chechnya.

Nothing is known about the initiation of a criminal case against a new Chechen star representing in the OAE octagon. So far, not a single patriot appealed to law enforcement agencies demanding to check his publication on social networks.

In Abu Dhabi, Chimaev defeated the American Kamar Usman, and after the battle he turned to Kadyrov with a request to allow him to go to fight for Palestine and stated that "he was ready to die for the Muslim brothers."
