The Moscow Investigative Committee reported the initiation of 22 criminal cases of evasion of service against people with acquired citizenship

The Moscow Investigative Committee opened 22 criminal cases of evasion from military service. The department's press release clarifies that 80 people who were born in Central Asia and previously received Russian citizenship were sent to serve in the Russian Armed Forces.

“In connection with this, the investigative body brings to the attention of the public that, in accordance with Art. 24 Federal Law 138 “On Citizenship of the Russian Federation,” citizenship of the Russian Federation is terminated if the citizen who acquired citizenship has committed one of the prescribed crimes, including evading military and alternative civil service,” the department said in a statement.

The capital's Investigative Committee also stated that they were establishing the whereabouts of service evaders and also checking “the legality of the evaders’ acquisition of citizenship.”
