Le Monde: billionaire and co-owner of Alfa Group Alexey Kuzmichev, who is under EU sanctions, was detained in France

Billionaire Alexey Kuzmichev was detained in France, reported newspaper Le Monde , citing sources. His homes, including a Parisian mansion in the 7th arrondissement and a villa in Saint-Tropez, were searched.

The European Union added Kuzmichev to the sanctions list along with another co-founder of Alfa Group, Herman Khan, in March 2022; after the start of the war, at the end of February, Mikhail Fridman and Peter Aven were also added there.

Kuzmichev at that time, according to a Le Monde source , was already in France. Then, in March 2022, the country’s authorities arrested two of his yachts. Now the billionaire is suspected of violating sanctions and tax crimes, the newspaper claims.
