Nizhnekamsk resident Vladimir Ovchinnikov was detained on suspicion of participation in the Freedom of Russia legion. telegram channel The Shot and the Kazan publication reported this with reference to unnamed sources.
The detention was confirmed by the press service of the Nizhnekamskneftekhim company, which is part of Sibur - 33-year-old Ovchinnikov was an employee of their contractor.
The man is suspected of being a member of the “Freedom of Russia” legion and, on the instructions of its fighters, “he photographed in detail the industrial zone of Nizhnekamsk and the objects located on its territory” (Part 2 of Article 205.5 of the Criminal Code).
“Business Online ” claims that the security forces received a recording of Ovchinnikov’s oath to the legion. It was filmed “several months ago” - at the time when Ovchinnikov moved to Nizhnekamsk from the Perm Territory. The man, according to the publication, was detained on the morning of October 31 as he was leaving his house and taken to Kazan; his workplace was searched.
Nizhnekamskneftekhim did not specify Ovchinnikov’s position. “Business Online ” notes that the man himself in 2015 posted on VKontakte photographs from a construction site in the uniform of an electrician. Currently, only one post is available on his page: in June 2023, he shared a Noize MC video for the anti-war song “Swan Lake Cooperative.”
