The Vyborg District Court of St. Petersburg arrested 46-year-old neo-Nazi Andrei Razin, previously convicted of the murder of a police major, reports the joint press service of the city courts.
The first case in St. Petersburg was brought against Razin for repeated demonstration of Nazi symbols (Part 1 of Article 282.4 of the Criminal Code), which carries up to four years in prison.
According to investigators, on June 24, 2023, on the sports ground on Komissar Smirnov Street, Razin “exposed the upper part of his body in the presence of persons in close proximity to him” and thus showed a tattoo of a swastika on his chest. Then Razin published a photo of himself standing without a T-shirt on the Telegram channel of his neo-Nazi association White Scouts.
Fontanka notes that this spring, Razin was fined 2 thousand rubles under the administrative protocol for displaying Nazi symbols (20.3 Code of Administrative Offenses) - then he posted a naked-chested photo from a bathhouse on his Telegram channel.
At a meeting on the administrative case, Razin repented and explained that he wanted to “show subscribers a good rest without alcohol.” He added that on his social networks he “promotes a healthy lifestyle and sports,” and also publishes content that “instills patriotism and unites Slavic peoples.” According to Razin, he got his tattoos in prison.
According to Fontanka, a criminal case was opened against the neo-Nazi on October 23. The day before he was detained and charged. The investigation's petition indicated that the man admitted guilt, but during the process he retracted his confession. Razin said that he “has nothing to do with fascism” and asked for a written undertaking not to leave the place, but the court sent him to a pre-trial detention center until December 23.
According to the SOVA analytical center, Razin, known by his nickname Chibis, was a member of the Totenkopf group, whose members attacked migrants and painted swastikas on synagogues and other buildings. In 2008, he was sentenced to 14 years in a maximum security colony for the murder of a police officer. Razin was released in the summer of 2022 and started the White Scouts telegram channel.
