In Kamchatka, the largest active volcano of Eurasia - Klyuchevskaya sharply strengthened activity. He made a series of powerful ash emissions to a height of up to 14 kilometers. This was clearly visible from the space, as evidenced by satellite pictures. They captured ash haze above the volcano and orange stripes on its slopes. Strips are lava, heated to 1100 degrees, a substance that spilled through the crater from the bowels of the earth. Getting down, it melted the masses of snow and ice, including Bogdanovich’s large glacier. As a result, streams of water, dirt and stones, comparable to rivers were formed. It was they, and not ashes, this time caused people the greatest troubles, damaging the only road leading to the district center-Ust-Kamchatsk.
By the way, the current eruption of Klyuchevsky, which in the last days attracted overall attention, began for a long time - June 22. However, for three and a half months, it developed in a calm mode and aroused interest mainly among specialists.
The situation changed in October, when the volcano began to throw ash more actively: at first it was not very high-five to seven kilometers. Then the emissions became more and more and occurred more and more often - several times a day. And this can already be called an anomaly. Klyuchevskaya, although it is considered a very active volcano, is not often satisfied with the “representations” of a similar scale. Its paroxysms (as the most violent stages of eruptions) were described by scientists twice: in 1945 and in 1994. Moreover, after 1994, the volcano was silent for 12 years, which is unusual for him. And then gradually began to return to the usual stormy activity. Perhaps, having reached the peak, she will now decline again. Today, the director of the Institute of Vulcanology and Seismology of the Fear for the RAS, Alexei Ozerov, said that the paroxysmal phase of the eruption has ended. But ... Soon after this statement, Klyuchevskaya once again shot ash to the sky - 11 kilometers.
I will add that
The eruption, of course, was observed not only from the space and not only scientists, but also the inhabitants of the nearby villages. Judging by the video that they post on social networks, the volcano resembled a very very smoking stoker.
It was lucky that this time the wind carried the train of the gas-praise suspension towards the Kamchatka Gulf, so only minor ashpads were held in the settlements.
More troubles were delivered by mudkamenic flows flowing from the slopes, blurring a section of the regional road. However, the authorities have already reported that the travel for all modes of transport is again open. At the same time, specialists categorically do not advise approaching the volcano directly. Powerful emissions can repeat at any time. Cautions, however, are not stopped by everyone. On the contrary, it is at the time of eruptions that volcanoes are of the greatest interest among tourists.
