The government introduced “special military registration” for prisoners. The corresponding resolution was published on the portal of regulatory legal acts.
As a result of the amendments, the subclause that exempted citizens serving a sentence of imprisonment from military registration was removed from the current Regulations on Military Registration.
Now prisoners will be able to be registered with “special military registration” - in this case, the convict will not have to visit the military registration and enlistment office, as well as undergo a medical examination and other checks. Military commissariats at pre-trial detention centers and colonies will maintain “special military records.”
According to the text of the document, the lists of “special military registration” will indicate the name, date and place of birth of the prisoner, as well as information about what article he was convicted under, what punishment was imposed and where he is serving it. They plan to check the data with the military registration and enlistment office database at least once a year.
Amendments to the Regulations on Military Registration were initiated by the Russian Ministry of Defense in September.
