On the morning of November 24, a truce of four days began in the gas sector. The agreement, during the period of which the parties should exchange 50 Hamas hostages for 150 Palestinians - prisoners of Israeli prisons (the first hostages are already at large ), found the Israeli defense army (IDF) in the midst of the offensive in the north of the sector.

By the end of October, all the northern regions of the sector (including the city of Gaza) were cut off from the southern blow of a large Israeli group from the east in the direction of the Mediterranean Sea.
In November, the IDF began the crushing of the surrounded area to the unit. The Israeli troops are inflicting the main blow from the coastal regions captured by them - from west to east - where Hamas has less serious fortifications than the border of the sector with Israel.

North of the Gaza Sector.

The militants are rather focal resistance. Judging by the published video, Hamas (unsuccessfully) tried to stop the Israeli units in the refugees camp of al-Shati (al-Shati) in the north-west of the sector, at the Gaza port and the Ash-Shifa Hospital in the west, as well as among the cities of Beit Lahia and Bait Khanun in the north. The militants were able to knock out several Israeli armored vehicles and tanks in street battles, but they failed to restrain the planned advance of the IDF.

In mid-November, they were able to capture the Khamas fortified area in the area of the Ash-Shifa hospital and advanced towards the old city of Gaza. At the same time, the Israeli troops managed to achieve the mass outcome of the inhabitants of the northern regions south through the checkpoints in the Vadi-Gaza river (satellite images can be seen in thousands of refugees passing through the Israeli ring near the river).
North of the port of Gaza, the DSAL is developing an offensive from the sea to the city of Beit Lahia.
Towards these troops from the outskirts of the city of Beit Khanun (which the fighting for a month of fighting could not capture completely) another group sets in. On the 20th of November, she managed to capture the Khamas fortified area near the Indonesian hospital. If, after the truce, the advance of the IDF continues here, all the northern border areas of the sector (including Beit Lecia) will be cut off from the city of Gaza.

However, the battle is still far from the end: the Israeli defense army created a network of bases and parking in the north of the technique, but judging by the video published by Hamas, the Israeli military experience difficulties with the movements between these objects: Palestinian militants regularly attack the columns of equipment. If in October the forces of the IDF stretched relatively easily in areas with a low (by the standards of the Gaza) density of the population and development, then as they move deep into cities in November, the pace of the offensive slowed down.

In addition, the successful advance of the IDF inside the sector does not solve the problem of the “end of the war” in any way. It is still unclear how Israel plans to use the fruits of military victory. Previous Victory in Gaza wars - in 2008 and 2014 - did not reduce the combat potential of Hamas and did not ensure the country's security.

November 4

The first week of the ground operation in the gas sector became successful for the Israeli Defense Army (IDF). The DSAL command chose the same form of the operation that was used in 2008-2009 during the first war with Hamas (in Israel that operation is known under the "cast lead"). The army of Israel again, like 14 years ago, cut the gas sector in two. The success of this part of the operation was the first to declare the DSAL command. Hamas representatives confirmed that all the ground routes of communication of the north and south of the sector are cut.

A dissecting blow from east to west-to the Mediterranean Sea-inflicted a large group of the Israeli army in the valley of the drying river Vadi Gaza (Besor). This area has a relatively low (by the standards of the gas sector) population density and development. Due to the fact that both enemy limited the publication of the video, the exact position of the Israeli troops in this part of the Gaza is difficult to determine.

It is known that on October 30, the IDF tanks reached the Salah Had-Din highway, crossing the sector from north to south at about the same distance from the Mediterranean Sea and the borders with Israel. There was a video on which the tank fired on the cars on the highway. Already on November 2, a video with burning cars and the sounds of a shootout near the coastline appeared. On November 3, the battles spread to the regions south and the north from the place where the DSAL units allegedly went to the shore.

From the north towards this group, another major unit of the Israeli army is breaking through the sea. The troops (judging by the satellite pictures published by The New York Times, the group includes more than 350 armored vehicles) advanced along the Al-Rashid coastal street at least six kilometers from the Israeli border. Such a rapid overcoming of the urban development distance is ensured by the use of the entire firepower of the IDF: if the advanced units meet resistance, powerful artillery and aircraft manufacture are immediately applied to the identified positions of the Hamas militants.

When two Israeli groups connect, the entire north of the sector (the city of Gaza, Jabail and others), where most of its population had previously lived, will be in a dense ring. Then, probably, the IDF will begin deep raids inside this “boiler”. At the same time, it is doubtful that the environment will immediately sharply reduce the combat effectiveness of Hamas and other groups that participated in terrorist shares on October 7 in Israel. The entire north of the gas sector is lifted with tunnels that militants are used for secret movement and storage of supplies (including weapons). Therefore, they will be able to conduct combat operations without supply from outside for a long time. In 2009, the IDF operation, successful in form, did not lead to the destruction of Hamas.

The way the war in Gaza can develop further show the fighting in the area of the city of Beit Khanun in the northeast of the sector. There, Israeli troops are attacked by tunnels. Hamas drones drop ammunition to field camps and clusters of Israeli infantry. The purpose of the group in this case (and wider - within the framework of the whole war) is not to win in open battle, but to inflict the maximum losses of the IDF and wait until the international pressure forces Israel to stop the operation.
