As a result of the “gift” explosion, the assistant commander-in-chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine was killed

In the Kyiv region, assistant commander-in-chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Gennady Chastyakov was killed as a result of an explosion. this Valery Zaluzhny reported in his Telegram channel.

“Today, under tragic circumstances, on my birthday, my assistant and close friend, Major Gennady Chastyakov, died among his family. An unknown explosive device went off in one of the gifts. Gennady is survived by his wife and four children,” he wrote.

Chastyakov’s wife told Ukrainskaya Pravda that a grenade that was in a gift bag exploded.

Espreso TV, citing its sources, reported that two more people were injured. Among them, according to Ukrainskaya Pravda, there was a child. Presumably, this is Chastyakov’s 13-year-old son. He was hospitalized in serious condition.
