On the evening of May 10, 2022, Tatyana opened the cycling season. Driving through Sosnovka, a huge park in the Vyborg district of St. Petersburg, past the monument to military dog handlers, Levicheva tied a green ribbon on the paw of a bronze dog and pasted a sticker “Peace to the World” on the pedestal. “I had a emotional outburst because I really love dogs,” the St. Petersburg resident explained in an interview with The Village.
Suddenly three people came out of the darkness. As follows from Levicheva’s statement of claim (available to OVD-Info), they “did not introduce themselves, did not explain what was happening.” The sticker was peeled off, the ribbon was thrown away, Tatyana was “grabbed and taken to the 36th police department” on Yesenin Street. It was 23:15 on the clock.
Closer to two in the morning, Tatyana was again taken to Sosnovka to inspect the “scene of the incident.” “Night, the birds are singing. Around the [military dog handlers] monument, nine police officers are looking for a green ribbon. I’m standing and thinking: someone is being killed, robbed, and here we are investigating the crime of the century,” she said .
