The court upheld the sentence of Valeria Zotova in the case of the intention to set fire to a collection point for aid for mobilized

On November 8, in Vlasikha in the Moscow region, a military court hearing was held to appeal the sentence of 20-year-old Valeria Zotova from Yaroslavl. The sentence was upheld, Valeria’s mother Svetlana Zotova told Kholod.

In the summer, Zotova was found guilty of “attempted terrorist act.” According to investigators, she wanted to set fire to a collection point for aid for those mobilized in the Yaroslavl region. She was sentenced to six years in a general regime colony.

Svetlana Zotova told Kholod that the trial was held in a video conference format: the judges of the military court near Moscow were connected via video link, and Lera herself participated in the hearing from the Yaroslavl pre-trial detention center, where she is staying until the verdict comes into force. Svetlana Zotova and several of Valeria’s friends watched the broadcast of the hearing online from the military court building in Yaroslavl.

As Svetlana Zotova says, lawyer Ivan Tamarov “defended Leroux very well, but they still upheld the verdict.” After the end of the court hearing, Valeria, according to her mother, asked: “Why the fuck did you need this fucking circus?”

Valeria Zotova's mother is also awaiting trial. She is accused of “justifying and calling for terrorism and extremist activities.” Svetlana faces up to 10 years in prison.
