“In the area where the radio signal was lost, there are difficult weather conditions and heavy snowfall. According to preliminary data, against this background, during the descent before landing, the plane could have collided with a hill near the village of Polyarny,” emergency services told the agency.
Telegram channel 112 reports that the plane made an emergency landing due to a snowstorm. He was reportedly carrying 150 kilograms of household goods to Polyarny, but encountered difficult weather conditions on approach to his destination.
According to Mash, in addition to the crew, was 29-year-old Oleg Petrechenko, the acting head of the mining team of the gold mining company Polyarnaya, on board. The Telegram channel, without citing a source , writes that an all-terrain vehicle was sent to the emergency landing site, but due to a snow storm it had to return.
RIA Novosti reported that a helicopter with rescuers was also sent to search for the An-2, but later it also had to return due to bad weather.
A few hours later, the governor of the Chukotka Autonomous Okrug, Vladislav Kuznetsov , said that rescuers had found the plane. According to him, both pilots and passengers are alive, but were injured to varying degrees of severity.
“At the time of detection, there were 2 people on board (co-pilot and passenger). The ship's captain set off on foot to search for a communications location. Currently, a search group has set out for the captain of the aircraft,” Kuznetsov wrote. He did not provide details of what happened.
