“It is one of the world’s leading systems for intercepting advanced threats, including ballistic and cruise missiles, aircraft and drones,” the Israeli Defense Ministry said in a statement.

This system cost Helsinki 317 million euros. Israeli authorities called the deal "historic."

The David's Sling missile defense system was developed by the Israeli company Rafael together with the American Raytheon. It is capable of intercepting missiles with a range of 40 to 300 kilometers and is the middle link of Israel's comprehensive missile defense system, which also consists of the Iron Dome, Strela 2 and Strela 3 systems.

The “David’s Sling” was put on combat duty in Israel in April 2017, and was used for the first time in May 2023.
