At the end of October, the new battalion of the Russian Ministry of Defense in Chechnya, which bears the name of the First Imam of the Caucasus Sheikh Mansur, was headed by Ruslan Geremeyev. In Russia, he is better known as the former deputy commander of the Chechen battalion "North" (part of the internal troops of the Ministry of Internal Affairs). The call sign is "good." This is the same Chechen officer, whose involvement in the murder of the opposition politician Boris Nemtsov, the investigation established almost immediately, but did not become him, Geremeyev, to look for eight years ignoring the arguments of the victims that this is one of the main organizers of the crime.

What else is known about Geremeyev? The investigator in the court in the case of the murder of Nemtsov admitted that the security forces knocked on the door of the house of the defendant in the Chechen village to invite for interrogation, but "no one opened them." Neither special forces, nor a grinder, nor a drill, in order to break the door, as it is done with extraordinary ease in the case of opposition and civilian activists, and Geremeyev began to apply to the households. The Russian SK was never able to bring Elemeyev’s elusive to interrogation, at least as a witness.

And now, more than eight years after the murder of Nemtsov Ruslan Geremeyev, they were publicly and officially appointed to a high military position, about which Ramzan Kadyrov and the most close to him, the deputy of the Russian State Duma Adam Delimkhanov, was solemnly reported in their telegram channels.

“Dear Brother” (as Ruslan Geremeyeva calls Kadyrov in a congratulatory post) and “a worthy representative of the team of the first president of the Republic Akhmat Kadyrov”, “courageously performing any tasks set” (and this praise from a relative - Adam Delimkhanov) will be responsible for the battalion in Gudermes. It is reported now at the military facility, where the personnel will be located, construction is underway. The head of Chechnya had already come there to check how the work was going.

1. Ruslan Geremeyev is 45 years old. It belongs to the influential Chechen clan of the Geremeyevs and is a relative, on the one hand of Delimkhanov, and on the other, Senator Suleiman Geremeyev and the current assistant Ramzan Kadyrov Vahi Geremeyev. Both Geremeyev Ruslan is a nephew.

2. The name of Ruslan Geremeyev surfaced immediately after the first arrests of the alleged murder performers. So, one of the arrested - Zaur Dadaev (the direct executor of the murder, at the time of the crime was the current officer of the North battalion, the order to dismiss him immediately after the murder of Nemtsov) - said that he arrived in Moscow with Ruslan Geremeyev, lived with him in the same apartment on Vernaya Street (where the alleged criminals were hiding after crime), brought there. Together with Geremeyev, they were seen in the Zink bar, in one of the hotels, etc.

According to Dadaev’s initial testimony, he killed Nemtsov because of his religious views, but a certain Chechen nicknamed Rusik, who granted him a pistol and a car, and also promised 5 million rubles, allegedly helped him to organize a crime. According to preliminary information, he called Ruslan Mukhutdinov, the driver of Ruslan Geremeyev.

Another arrested in the first days after the murder of the politician - Temirlan Eskerkhanov, a former employee of the Silkovsky District Department of Internal Affairs, told the investigators that Ruslan Geremeyev, who served in the North battalion, introduced him to Dadaev.

3. A little more than a week after Boris Nemtsov was killed on the Big Moskvoretsky bridge by four shots from a pistol in the back, in the village of Starogladkovskaya Silkovsky district of Chechnya, FSB officers tried to detain Ruslan Geremeyev. His family lives in this village, in the very center, in a large house opposite the mosque.

The operation was carried out by employees of the Central apparatus of the FSB together with the Dagestan FSB (that is, without the involvement of Chechen colleagues), but it was not possible to detain Ruslan Geremeyev.

Then, in March 2015, in the first weeks after the murder of Nemtsov, Ruslan Geremeyev, under the protection of local security forces, was in the fortified village of Julka, known as the family village of Adam Delimkhanov and his brother, the commander of the North battalion Alimbek Delimkhanov. There Ruslan Geremeyev also could not detain the investigating authorities - neither as a “key witness” or as an “accomplice”. At the end of March 2015, Geremeyev was able to leave Russia. As the New Gazeta wrote with reference to a source close to the environment of Adam Delimkhanov, Geremeyev made a new foreign passport to another name. The man who saw Geremeyev in Jalke on the eve of his departure claimed: the appearance of the fighter (hairstyle, hair color, etc.) has changed a lot.

From Russia to the Emirates, he traveled under the guise of a groom as part of a representative Chechen delegation for the World Cup of Dubai - 2015, held on March 28.

In this cup, then two horses of Ramzan Kadyrov participated, one of which brought the owner of Chechnya 500 thousand dollars.

But for some reason, they did not put on the wanted list. The Investigative Committee put on the wanted list only his personal driver - that very Ruslan Mukhutdinov. The investigation assigned him the role of the organizer of the murder, bringing the appropriate charge in absentia.

4. A lover of horses, Ramzan Kadyrov, stood warmly for Ruslan Geremeyev in the media: “Geremeyev absolutely, if you ask me, is not to blame. This is an invented business. I am a thousand percent sure that he is not to blame. We all know who is to blame for what and how. It's just that you are interested in getting to Kadyrov somehow. ” Nemtsov, noted the Chechen leader, killed the "enemies of Russia", and not his, Kadyrov, acquaintances.

5. Lawyer Vadim Prokhorov, who represented the interests of the daughter of the murdered politician Zhanna Nemtsova, in turn told reporters: “I personally saw the project on the presentation of [Ruslan] Geremeyev, but he was not given the course of the leadership of the Investigative Committee for lack of evidence, although we, as the victims, saw a huge number of such evidence in the case.”

In particular, in the case there was an assignment of March 16, 2015, according to which the employees of the Investigative Committee ordered the FSB department in Chechnya to establish the whereabouts of Ruslan Geremeyev and deliver it to the Investigative Committee. The same assignment dated May 18, 2015 received the head of the operational-search department (BRU) of the 2nd Service of the FSB. In the case there was also a summons on the call of Ruslan Geremeyev for interrogation. But all these requirements were not met.

The FSB operatives only once left at the place of residence of Geremeyev and later wrote in the report that "no one opened the door to the household."

6. The owner of the apartment on Veernaya Street, which was used by Geremeyev and Dadaev, according to the extract from Rosreestr was the brother of Ruslan Geremeyev Arthur. The latter, like a number of arrested, including Dadaev and Eskerkhanov, also fell into the lenses of surveillance cameras. Investigators wrote several summons on the call of Arthur Geremeyev for interrogation, the FSB officers should have been handed over. The operatives visited the house in Chechnya, where Arthur Geremeyev lived, but no one opened the door to them either.

By the way, two electronic cards were found in the apartment on Veerna-the keys to the numbers "President-Hotel" in Moscow. These numbers, as noted in the response of the hotel administration to a request from the Investigative Committee, was, in particular, the senator from Chechnya Suleiman Geremeyev, uncle Ruslan Geremeyev. However, Suleiman Geremeyev was not even questioned.

7. As for his nephew Ruslan, which disappeared at that time, then in January 2017, the then deputy chairman of the SCA, Igor Krasnov, in an interview with Kommersant, admitted that he did not have any procedural status in the case of the murder of Boris Nemtsov: “He disappeared immediately after the murder of Boris Nemtsov, and his whereabouts are still unknown.”

8. Zhanna Nemtsova and her lawyers continued to insist on the need to search and bring Geremeyev to justice as one of the main organizers of the murder. In 2018, the daughter of Nemtsova, lawyer Vadim Prokhorov and the then head of the Foundation Boris Nemtsov, now convicted by 25 years in a colony for the Stateismman, politician Vladimir Kara-Murza-the youngest at the hearing in the US Congress provided an evidence base for the participation of each person involved in the case in the crime. Including Ruslan Geremeyev. A year after that, Geremeyev was included in the sanctions list of the US Treasury as part of the Magnitsky Law. Thus, he joined the company of the head of the Russian Guard Viktor Zolotov, Ramzan Kadyrov and Adam Delimkhanov that had already been there earlier. True, Geremeyev was under sanctions precisely for involvement in the organization of the murder of Nemtsov.

9. In the spring of 2022, Ruslan Geremeyev discovered in Ukraine, in the war. Now he officially ceased to hide, and the environment of the President of Chechnya ceased to hide him. So, at the end of March last year, Ramzan Kadrov published a video with Geremeyev and other fighters from Chechnya in his telegram channel. On the frames, Geremeyev reported on the seizure of the administrative center of Mariupol. Kadyrov himself, commenting on the video, claimed that Chechen fighters were raising the Chechen flag over the building.

However, on the same day, the mayor of the besieged city denied this information, saying that only the outskirts of Mariupol were captured by the Russian military. His words were confirmed by a video that came into the network, in which the Kadyrovites, according to the Armed Forces of Ukraine, only imitate the assault on the empty house in Mariupol. The imitation was striking, because there were no Ukrainian military in the house shelled by the Chechen soldiers and no one led from there a response fire.

As if reacting to this criticism, a few days later Kadyrov reported on social networks that his “best warrior” Ruslan Geremeyev received a wound in Mariupol and got into the hospital. There the Chechen leader visited him. The post with his photo by the bed of Geremeyev Kadyrov accompanied the words : “I am not at all surprised by the stamina and high battle of Ruslan. He is a true patriot of the Fatherland ... Thanks to such bold and brave warriors as Ruslan, our armed forces will cope with any threat, ensure the world and security of Russia. ”

Almost for the year, the name of Geremeyev disappeared from the public plane. In July 2023, the European Human Rights Court made a decision that the Russian authorities “could not properly investigate who organized and ordered the murder” and did not take into account the “possible political motives” of what happened. “In general, the investigation turned out to be ineffective,” concluded in the ECHR. In their complaint, Zhanna Nemtsov and her lawyers paid attention not least in the last time that successfully avoided any responsibility of the former deputy commander of the Chechen battalion "North" Ruslan Geremeyev.

Russia, emerging from the jurisdiction of the ECHR, did not initiate a new investigation. And Ruslan Geremeyev, who obviously knows the customer of the murder, was raised to the battalion commander in Chechnya.
