The Czech authorities approved the freezing of Russian state property in the country

The Czech authorities have added FSUE Goszagranprosperty, a structure that manages Russian real estate abroad, to the national sanctions list, the Czech agency CTK reports.

During a press conference following a government meeting, Foreign Minister Jan Lipavsky explained that after an organization is included in the sanctions list, all its assets in the country are frozen, and any commercial activity of the company, including leasing out real estate, becomes illegal.

He also clarified that the government’s decision to freeze Russian state property in the country does not apply to real estate properties of the Russian Embassy, ​​which are used for diplomatic activities.

According to the minister, real estate associated with State Foreign Property is located mainly in Prague and Karlovy Vary. He added that people and companies renting this property can continue to use it, but the rent will go to an account that is not accessible to Russia.

“This ends the commercial activity through which Russia finances the murders of Ukrainians,” Lipansky wrote on Twitter.

The introduced restrictions have already been commented on by the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Dmitry Kuleba. “The Czech Republic has just frozen all Russian state assets. I applaud this fundamental step. All countries that have not yet done so should follow suit. Russian money should be used to restore Ukraine, not for murder and destruction,” he said .
