The court arrested a farmer from Khakassia who held workers in slavery for seven years

A court in Khakassia arrested for two months farmer Viktor Olisov, who held workers in slavery for seven years. This was reported by the press service of the regional courts.

Olisov was charged with using slave labor in relation to two or more persons, using blackmail, violence, and also with the seizure of personal documents (Article 127.2 of the Criminal Code). The maximum penalty is up to ten years in prison.

He is also charged with illegal acquisition and possession of explosives or explosive devices, the court said.

According to the investigation, in 2016, Olisov found three people “leading an antisocial lifestyle” to do work on his farm. He promised to pay them a salary, but instead took away their documents and demanded that they work 16 hours a day every day. As punishment, he beat his workers and locked them in the cellar.

The enslaved workers tried to escape, but the farm was located 20 km from the nearest settlement. Olisov caught them and brought them back. They were discovered only in 2023.
