The Russian government lifted the ban on gasoline exports

The Russian government has decided to lift the temporary ban on the export of motor gasoline from the Russian Federation from November 17. The Ministry of Energy reported this, reports . Interfax

A ban on the export of motor gasoline and diesel fuel was introduced on September 21 to stabilize prices on the domestic market.

The Ministry of Energy said that in two months “the saturation of the domestic market has been ensured and a surplus in the supply of motor gasoline has been created, including in the exchange sales channel.” According to the department, since the beginning of the export ban, exchange wholesale prices have “reduced significantly,” and automobile fuel reserves amount to about two million tons.

• The government decree introducing restrictions on the export of gasoline and fuel stated that temporary restrictions “will help saturate the fuel market, which in turn will reduce prices for consumers.”
• According to Rosstat, from January 1 to August 20, 2023, the average price of gasoline at gas stations in Russia increased by 3.35 rubles to 54.3 rubles. The “Agency” noted that this current jump in fuel prices could become one of the strongest in the last 10 years. At the end of summer, market participants reported a shortage of fuel at gas stations. This was discussed , in particular, in the Saratov, Novosibirsk, Ryazan regions, as well as in the Krasnodar Territory, Adygea and Astrakhan region.
