Aman Tuleyev resigned after a fire in the Winter Cherry shopping center in Kemerovo in the spring of 2018, which killed 64 people, including 37 children, and injured another 147 people.

After the fire, Tuleyev asked for forgiveness from President Vladimir Putin. “Vladimir Vladimirovich, you personally called me. Once again thank you very much. I apologize to you personally for what happened on our territory,” he said then.
