According to the defense lawyer, problems often arise with the Koran in Arabic, and it is not always given to prisoners. “Questions arose regarding whether it can be read in Arabic or only in Russian translation,” explained Kurbedinov. The lawyer also said that Seitumerov wrote a statement about this to the administration of pre-trial detention center-2 and is now awaiting a decision.
24-year-old Abdulmedzhit Seitumerov has been in pre-trial detention since August. Then the security forces came to search the relatives of political prisoners and Crimean Solidarity activists in Bakhchisaray. Seytumetov and 5 other people were investigated: Ametkhan Umerov, Seydamet Mustafayev, Ruslan Asanov, Eldar Yakubov and Remzi Nimetulaev.
Nimetulaev and Asanov were charged under the article on organizing a terrorist organization (Part 1 of Article 205.5 of the Criminal Code), the rest were charged under the article on participation in it (Part 2 of Article 205.5 of the Criminal Code). Lawyer Emil Kurbedinov reported that the FSB did not provide any evidence for such articles.
In November, the court extended the detention of believers until the end of January 2024.
Abdulmedjit Seitumerov is the younger brother of two political prisoners, Osman and Seytumer Seytumerov, and was involved in supporting those persecuted in the Hizb ut-Tahrir case .
