At the end of October, the guide and author of the Travel to Challenge channel Irek Zakirov with a dog Mefrand left for Urav - a remote village in the mountains of Rachi. There, Irek arranged for himself the month of detox from city life: he woke up without an alarm clock, drowned the Swan stove, cooked coffee on it and drank with the locals.
Irek told Paper Kartuli how he spent 25 days in a remote village, how he coped without a hot soul and water and how much such detox did to it.
- I spend the tours [in Georgia] and lead an active lifestyle, I am always among people. In spring and autumn, when [tourist] season subsides, I have the opportunity to devote time to myself. I need to rest so that I have enough for the next season.
Last spring, together with the dog Mefrend, we passed the Lycian path - 25 days and 515 kilometers. In the same off -season, I decided to stop and live in a mountain village of Urabi . Both that and that - the opportunity to be alone with yourself and your thoughts.
The idea itself [about a trip to the village] spun in my head for a long time. There were requirements and conditions for housing: I needed a veranda and a stove - to sit there for days, still a lack of asphalt and good Internet. It only remained to release a month of life for this business.
It did not work out at this month at this month, I did not become a monk! Every weekend, acquaintances and strangers visited me, we spent time at the stove, walked around the village and its environs. But at the same time, I rested from endless movements, fuss, cities, daily meetings and dialogues. There was not even a store in my village.
Maybe [for me it was] detox from noise? Perhaps so. In my village it was really very, very quiet.

- When I escaped from the strong paws of Tbilisi, I only had the name of the village in my hands, where I went for the first time. I had not heard anything about him before: and when I called up with the Georgians, they all thought that I was in the Urals, none of them knew about Urals. I found it on the map, finding the gorge in the depths of Rachi, where I never drove.
I got to the village very late. The evening is dark, and not a soul on the streets. I was already sure that I had to put up a tent somewhere, but then a wheelbarrow drove up, and the owner promised to return in 10 minutes and show the option [housing]. I did not have time to finish, as we were already walking along a wonderful glazed old veranda. And when he opened the door to my room, the Svan furnace flashed in the middle. I did not need more.
Then I drank a little with the owners, melted the stove and sat happy, stared at the fire. Now that they ask me to tell me about myself, I can say that between a hot shower and stove I chose a stove: in fact, this is enough to have an idea of me.
A month in the house cost me 300 Lari. This amount included the room itself, a common space, a kitchen, a toilet and firewood.
- My days in the village passed wonderful! I woke up as I woke up. Sometimes at 8, sometimes at 12. It was very lazy and cold to get up, because the stove went out, as I fell asleep. And if you do not throw firewood, the house cools over the night.
First of all, he melted the stove, washed and prepared breakfast and coffee on the same furnace.
After breakfast, I went on to working moments: planning winter tours, content, calls and other things. It is very easy to distract yourself, it is enough to twist a cigarette, sit opposite the stove, and that's it - try to tear yourself away.

There were plenty of firewood, but difficulties arose with water. Sometimes she was cut off for several days, and only a thin stream flowed. But if you put a bucket, then water is always at hand. The only thing is that these days you can’t wash [things]. Yes, I had a washing machine, but there was no hot shower! So I drew a basin of cold water, heated it on the stove and washed.
To drown the house, sweep, warm water, cook - all this takes much more time than in the city, although, maybe this is only for me, I was in no hurry.
In general, household actions, silence, favorite work - all this in a remote village. The effect of a vacuum was created in which I was alone with me.
There were risks! For example:
But in general, I perfectly understood where I was going, why I was going there and what I want from this experience. There was no experience.
- Now, answering these questions, I am already in Tbilisi. And I am very fresh, configured for a working drive.
In itself, solitude with yourself and your thoughts is a very cool thing. Last time - a single monthly campaign, this time - a village. The bar is declared. Let's see what I will come up with on the offseason after the ski season.
