The court in Vologda sentenced to 6.5 years in prison the head of the combat branch of the Special Forces of the Thunder, the police lieutenant colonel Eduard Panov. He was found guilty of abuse of authority and causing serious harm to health that resulted in death.
It follows from the material of the case that in June 2021, Panov, along with other special forces fighters, participated in the detention of drugs suspects in illegal trafficking. The police searched one of the suspects in the apartment. In one of the rooms on the couch lay a man. He was put to the floor later, he complained about poor health and asked to call an ambulance. The police, according to them, called an ambulance and began to help him. Arriving doctors stated the death of a man. Bruises were found on the body of the deceased.
During the trial, the defense Panov complained that an examination was excluded from the case, which allegedly proved the innocence of the special forces. The court considered it unacceptable evidence.
