On November 21, the Krasnogvardeisky District Court of Crimea rejected the claim of Arsen Abkhairov , a defendant in the Krasnogvardeisky Hizb ut-Tahrir case, demanding that the time spent in a pretrial detention facility be counted towards his prison term. At the meeting, a representative of the Federal Penitentiary Service claimed that the penitentiary institution should have received, along with the sentence, an order with instructions on how to execute it.
Lawyer Rustem Kyamilev, who represents Abkhairov's interests , called the court's decision "a fabrication." " The Southern District Military Court issued a verdict in which it clearly and distinctly stated, based on the law, that the period from the moment of Arsen Abkhairov's detention until the moment the verdict comes into legal force is counted ," he noted.
In November 2020, Abkhairova was sentenced to 13 years of imprisonment under the article on participation in the activities of a terrorist organization (Part 2 of Article 205.5 of the Criminal Code). He was to spend the first two years in prison.
