During the debate in the Butyrsky District Court of Moscow, the prosecution requested real prison terms for the defendants in the case of the Telegram channel "What to do!"
Igor Nagibin was asked to be sentenced to eleven years and six months in prison, as well as a fine of 100 thousand rubles and a ban on administering Internet resources for two years. This was reported by his lawyer from OVD-Info.
HSE student Maria Platonova was asked to get seven years of real imprisonment, and Dmitry Chebanov was asked to get eleven years of general regime penal colony. This is reported by Novaya Gazeta Evropa.
The prosecution requested ten and nine years in a maximum security penal colony for Vyacheslav Abramov and Ildar Sadriev, nine years in a general regime penal colony for Nikita Kreshchuk, Alexey Kurlov, Igor Kuznetsov, Dmitry Lamanov and Alexey Yanochkin. Seven years in a general regime penal colony for Zhanna Chernova. All defendants in the case were also asked to be banned from publishing on the Internet for two years.
The defendants in the case are charged under articles on incitement to mass riots (Part 1.1, Article 212 of the Criminal Code) and on incitement of hatred by an organized group (Clause “b” of Part 2, Article 282 of the Criminal Code).
Abramov is also charged with possession of drugs in significant quantities (Part 1 of Article 228 of the Criminal Code). In addition, in July, a criminal case was opened against Nagibin under the article on illegal possession of explosives (Part 1 of Article 222.1 of the Criminal Code): in September 2021, gunpowder was found during a search of his home - Nagibin claimed that he did not know who owned the substance.
The author of the Telegram channel "What to Do!" Chebanov and four other peoplewere detained on September 5, 2021, while trying to hang a banner on the building of the Central Children's Store. Subsequently, he and three other people were arrested for 15 days under the article on petty hooliganism (Part 1 of Article 19.3 of the Code of Administrative Offenses). During Chebanov's administrative arrest , it became known about the criminal prosecution.
The prosecution believes that “a group of individuals consisting of at least 11 participants from 7 regions of Russia created a network of Telegram channels aimed at organizing mass riots on the territory of the Russian Federation during the days of the single vote from September 17 to 19, 2021.”
On December 19, Igor Nagibin felt ill on the way from the pretrial detention center to the court hearing, an ambulance was called for him. This is reported by SOTAvision.
