Alexei Navalny's lawyer Igor Sergunin's detention period has been extended until March 13, 2024. This was reported by SOTA.
The court closed the hearing at the investigator's request. Sergunin did not object to the proposal.
On the morning of October 13, searches were conducted at the homes of Navalny's lawyers Igor Sergunin, Andrei Kobzev and Alexei Liptser, after which they were detained. That same day, they were sent to a pretrial detention facility on charges of participating in an extremist community (Part 2 of Article 282.1 of the Criminal Code).
According to the security forces, the men, “using their status” as lawyers to gain access to the colony, “ensured the regular transfer of information between the leaders and members of the extremist community and Navalny A.A., who thereby continued to perform the functions of the leader and director of the extremist community.”
Another of Navalny’s lawyers, Alexander Fedolov, announced on October 16 that he had left Russia due to the “need for adjustments” in the politician’s further defense.
16:08 The remaining detained lawyers of Navalny, Vadim Kobzev and Alexey Liptser, will also remain in custody until March 13. This is reported by Mediazona.
Title changed due to extension of custody for remaining lawyers.

On May 28, the Basmanny District Court of Moscow extended the arrest of Vadim Kobzev and Alexey Liptser until August 3. This was reported by SOTAvision.
It is specified that the defense requested that the lawyers be transferred to house arrest, since, according to the prosecution, Kobzev and Liptser carried out their “criminal activity,” including by transmitting information to Alexei Navalny, but after the politician’s death they will not be able to continue to do so.
16:26 Igor Sergunin’s arrest was also extended until August 3, a Mediazona correspondent reports from the courtroom.
At the hearing, the investigator reported that Sergunin was admitting guilt and testifying in the case. The investigator in the case petitioned for the hearing to be held behind closed doors. Sergunin, his lawyer, and the prosecutor supported this petition. Despite this, the trial was held in open mode.
- On June 9, 2021, the Moscow City Court recognized the Anti-Corruption Foundation (FBK), the Citizens' Rights Defense Foundation (CRDF), and Alexei Navalny's headquarters as extremist organizations. The appeals court later upheld this decision. After that, supporters of the opposition politician began leaving Russia en masse.
