The S7 airline plane, which was flying to Moscow, made an emergency landing in Novosibirsk due to a technical malfunction. This was reported by the West Siberian Transport Prosecutor's Office.

“The landing was carried out as usual. Currently, the aircraft is taken out of service, passengers are accommodated in the terminal building, and a reserve aircraft is being prepared for the flight,” the statement says.

TASS writes that the reason why the Boieng 737-800 made an emergency landing, according to preliminary data, was engine surge. The Eastern Interregional Transport Investigation Department of the UK informed the agency that they had begun a pre-investigation check under the article on violation of traffic safety rules and operation of air transport (Part 1 of Article 263 of the Criminal Code).

Mash Siberia and Baza add that there were 176 passengers on board. According to telegram channels, almost immediately after takeoff, both engines experienced a surge. Presumably due to blood pressure problems.

In turn, Shot claims that during the climb, “sparks and flames flew from both engines of the plane.”

The day before, on December 7, a similar situation occurred with a Tu-204 cargo plane in Buryatia, which was flying from Ulan-Ude to Zhangzhou. The plane's engine caught fire a few minutes after takeoff. The pilots had to dump fuel. The plane then landed successfully at Baikal airport, no one was injured.
