On December 7, the Chernovsky District Court of Chita fined a local animal rights activist five thousand rubles for blocking the exit from the Five Stars shelter for homeless dogs. This was reported by Moskovsky Komsomolets Chita.
The publication does not name the activist. on the court’s website At the same time, information was published that on December 7, hearings were held on the administrative cases of two local residents - Marina Salomatova and Tatyana Ermolenko. Both were found guilty under the article on organizing a mass simultaneous presence of citizens in public places, resulting in a violation of order (Part 1 of Article 20.2.2 of the Administrative Code). Salomatova also acted as a defense lawyer at Ermolenko’s trial.
The reason for drawing up a report against one of those fined was that she allegedly blocked the passage to the shelter with her car. This happened on December 3, when animal rights activists noticed that shelter employees were loading dogs into a truck. Activists suggested that the animals were at risk of euthanasia. The publication “7x7” published a video in which one of the activists who entered the shelter’s territory was thrown to the ground and dragged to the exit.
A representative of the shelter stated at the trial that the animal rights activists’ cars were preventing them from bringing construction materials into the shelter’s territory.
