The Sovetsky District Court of Bryansk arrested until February 6 Sergei Poddubny, the director of the private security organization Excalibur Agency, which was involved in guarding the Bryansk gymnasium, where the shooting occurred on December 7. This was reported by the joint press service of the courts of the Bryansk region.
They clarified that Poddubny was charged with providing services that did not meet safety requirements, resulting in the death of two or more persons (Part 3 of Article 238 of the Criminal Code). The investigation claims that the student was able to bring a weapon to school because Poddubny did not provide security for the educational institution. In particular, the head of the organization did not ensure the installation of a metal detector and did not monitor the work of his subordinates.
At the court hearing, Poddubny asked to be placed under house arrest in order to be close to his family and be able to work. In turn, his lawyer declared her client’s innocence. “Private security is obliged to protect from outside dangers, check strangers, and not let them through. They have no right to touch children,” she said.
On December 9, it also became known about the detention of the deputy director of Bryansk gymnasium No. 5, Larisa Katolikova. As reported, she was charged with negligence causing the death of two or more persons (Part 3 of Article 293 of the Criminal Code).
On December 7, an eighth-grade student at Bryansk gymnasium No. 5, Alina Afanaskina, brought a hunting rifle that belonged to her father to school and opened fire on the students, killing one schoolgirl and wounding five more people. After this, Alina committed suicide.
Later, it was officially announced that a criminal case had been opened for murder. The prosecutor's office also opened a case of negligence due to the absence of a metal detector frame at the entrance to the gymnasium.
At the same time, the Baza telegram channel claims that two criminal cases were opened against the father of the shooting schoolgirl, Dmitry Afanaskin. One is about violating the rules for storing weapons. The second is under the article on incitement to suicide.
